150 Factories of the Future already in the making

For more than two years now Sirris and Agoria have been working within the Made Different programme to help Belgian companies transform themselves into Factories of the Future. Since then, many companies have taken their first steps in this direction. Today we set out the most important results so far.

The figures

So far, 137 companies have begun one or more transformations and 32 companies have commissioned a transformation scan. In total, this involves about 147 unique companies that are on their way to becoming Factories of the Future.

These companies come from various sectors - automotive repair, construction, chemicals, wood, leather, medical, furniture, paper, pharmaceuticals, technology, textiles, transportation and food. Of these, 66 percent are SMEs and 34 percent are large enterprises. Geographically, the transforming companies are evenly distributed throughout Flanders - the provinces Antwerp, Limburg and West Flanders each account for 22 percent of the transforming companies. The province of Flemish Brabant represents 17 percent while the remaining 16 percent are in East Flanders.

Wondering who the very first Belgian Factories of the Future are? We’ll only reveal that with the first Factory of the Future Award!
