Transparant shopfloor

Towards a more transparent production floor

Support and transparency based on digitisation

Digitising the production processes of manufacturing companies offers opportunities for breakthroughs in production: increased responsiveness, an intensification in customer focus, limited complexity and the set-up of new services.

The Innovative Business Network (IBN) “digitising manufacturing” currently focuses on two clusters, i.e. "Supporting operators in their tasks" and "Making the shop floor transparent". The intention is to convince other companies to take major steps in digital transformation, using inspiring demonstrations and innovative projects.

Standards cell for Industry 4.0 informs and advises

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of networks whereby digital entities and physical objects can be uniquely identified using simple, standardised, mobile and wireless electronic identification systems. It allows for constant requesting, saving, processing and exchange of data between the physical and the virtual world. Understanding these standards, the consequences and their impact in the present and future is a vital prerequisite for any successful digitisation project.

At the request of the digital business sector and with the aid of FPS Economy and the Belgian national organization for standardization (NBN), Sirris and Agoria have established a standards cell for Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) standards. This service is organised to inform Belgian businesses, in particular SMEs, about existing and upcoming standards on Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. The standards cell was established in order to stay informed on standards by gathering information, making companies aware of this standards environment and offering advice on their digital choices.
