A new generation of products will require changes on the shop floor. Other factors also result in a drastic transformation of the production methods of the future: everything must be produced faster, on time, more accurately, smaller, increasingly customised, cheaper, more environmentally friendly, more complex, etc.

The integration of various (new) strategies such as QRM, and (new) production technologies such as additive manufacturing is required to streamline production processes, decrease lead times and improve quality and accuracy. Applying automation solutions such as cobots, vision systems, etc. to (digitally) support the operator when performing tasks is required to future-proof production processes. The enormous quantity of data which are generated in production can be applied to further improve the production process.
