Problem solving with OPIN

On 17 June, the Ocean Power Innovation Network (OPIN) webinar will take place. Join this webinar and hear about the Technology Assessment Process (TAP) and Collaboration Innovation Groups (CIG) services offered, and how you can access this free support.

The Ocean Power Innovation Network (OPIN) is a €2.6 million programme, funded by the European Regional Development Fund, that is designed to accelerate the growth of European SMEs in the ocean energy sector. Membership of the network is free and brings full access to a range of technology development services and guidance. This webinar will highlight two services OPIN members can benefit from: the CIG and TAP support.

TAP & CIG

The Technology Assessment Process (TAP) is a standardised framework for the assessment of new and emerging ocean energy technologies and services. OPIN experts can work with your business to understand key uncertainties and risks associated with costs and performance, resulting in a less expensive, faster and more focussed development pathway. A TAP will help to map your company’s journey through the development process, identifying commercialisation milestones and future sources of support.

A Collaborative Innovation Groups (CIG) is a small group of SMEs, often working with research entities and / or large companies, to solve specific problems which are barriers to deployment of ocean energy and offer opportunities for new products or services. Sirris is currently leading a CIG on corrosion monitoring. Together with companies, insights in both the market and technology were collected, leading to a number of barriers and opportunities with respect to corrosion monitoring.

Webinar

The webinar, held on 17 June, will provide a description of CIG and TAP support, and showcase practical examples from companies who have benefited from this support. The event is open to OPIN members. OPIN registration is quick, free and gives access to an international network of more than 400 members and activities dedicated to offshore renewable energy.
